Rod being a blue-collar musician with roots in blues, rock and old country is a true working musician, performing more than 150 dates a year since 2000, most of those with The Blues DeVilles. He hosted Donahue’s Tavern open blues jam on Thursday night for over 5 years with the house band “The Circuit Breakers”. He gives instruction and shares his craft with young aspiring guitarist 2 nights a week from his home studio.
Fans, friends and his musical peers have consistently called Rod’s playing and singing soulful and tasteful. But make no mistake, when he plays the blues and finds the zone it burns with a flame that only feeling and experience can deliver.
Rod has shared the stage with nationally known acts, in national blues clubs and festivals with Hot Rod & The Blues DeVilles. They also received radio airplay and press in the Midwest.

The Columbus Dispatch front page of Arts/Life section “Quote from article below”
"With the release today of Paradise, the second Blues DeVilles album, they have incorporated three-part harmonies inspired by the Temptations and shades of rock colored by Jimi Hendrix and the Eagles."
"They’re doing everything right," said Al Roop, a manager at the bar and the drummer for the Barrelhouse Blues Band. "It really doesn’t get any better than Hot Rod and the Blues DeVilles."
“Roop called the rhythm section a "funk machine" that regularly draws a big crowd.”
